Friday 5+1 (5 Things I Love + 1 Thing I Don’t) – 12.8.17

I know I’ve been sparse this week, and I apologize.  My Cabinet Painting Makeover 2.0 project took over my house this past week, so I have been working to get everything back in order.  We’re all friends here, so please, the next time I get a crazy idea to do a project like this so close to the holidays, please stage an intervention.  (Not that I would have listened.  I would have been all, “I don’t have a problem, I can quit whenever I want to.  No, I won’t give up my paint sprayer, you can’t make me!”).  Cue Amy Winehouse –  “try to make me go to rehab, and I say, no, no, no….”

Anyway – aside from the appliance panels, it’s pretty much put back together, and I’m excited to show it to you!  For now, here’s a sneak peek, and I’m making it my first item for this week’s Friday 5+1.  This post contains some affiliate links

My Painted Breakfast Bar

Painted Breakfast Bar Before and After

I posed the question of whether or not to paint my breakfast bar and island on my Facebook page, and opted to paint everything the same color, and I’m so glad that I did.  It really opens up the whole space, and feels so much lighter and brighter.  While I’m a contrast lover, in this space, it makes sense to keep it all uniform.

Merry Little Hangover Wine Bag

With my continued love for all things cars/trucks and trees, and my love of wine, this little wine bag is too cute not to share.  I found it at my local Fleurish Home store.

Friends Like Us

I spotted this book also, and fell in love with it.  If you have close girlfriends – the ones you’ve known for years, who know you inside and out.  The friends who you may not see very often, but when you do, you pick up right where you left off – Friends Like Us is a must have.  Friends are often hard to buy for when it comes to gifts, and I loved this one so much, that I may or may not have purchased several copies…

Another Shout Out to Luxury Vinyl

I was meeting with a potential customer to give a kitchen quote, and she showed me some of the other changes that they made in their home, and added vinyl tile to their basement.  Wowza.  It’s another compelling argument for adding vinyl flooring to your home, and really left me thinking.  Unlike tile, it felt so warm, and looked so nice.  When I asked her where she bought it, would you believe it – Costco?  What?

Christmas Tours Continue

I hope you’re keeping up with the Christmas tours!  I know there is a lot to see, and I’m having a hard time keeping up myself.  My tour will be up tomorrow. 🙂  In the meantime, check out this pretty in plaid living room from This is Our Bliss.  I love me some plaid.  I just can’t help myself.

How about Home by Heidi’s stunning traditional red and green decor?  Did I mention she was also featured in Better Homes and Gardens?  It’s easy to see why. Wow.  Just, wow.

My +1 for the week – My Pre-Party Craziness

Yes, I’ll admit this is all on me.  I turn into a complete lunatic before hosting a party.  My annual cookie exchange is tomorrow, and I think with all of the other self-induced stress, I’m going to take it to a whole new level this year.  My husband and kids know to run away stay out of the way, but surely I’m not alone in this one, right?

Almost forgot – I have WINNERS!

Congrats to the winners of my giveaways!  The winner of the Stile fan is Julie H. (I have already contacted her).  And the winner of the Blended Bay Wreath from Lynch Creek Farm is Carla (just emailed this morning).  Congrats to both of you, and thanks to everyone for entering!

Have a GREAT weekend!

Jenny

Thanks Debbie! I’m really happy with it now that it’s finally done! Looking forward to sharing it soon! I love my cookie exchange so much – one of the highlights of the holidays. So much fun catching up with friends, and I relish the time so much. Everyone bakes six dozen cookies and then we just divide six dozen by the number of people who come to the party. Each person takes that amount of cookies from each tray and takes them home. 🙂 It’s worked well so far!

Looking forward to getting the details on the kitchen paintover!
We put the Costco laminate throughout our entire upstairs and love it so much I’m considering covering my main level “orange” wood floor with it…and maybe the basement in Costco’s vinyl after seeing this!
