I can’t believe it’s December 1st and Christmas will be here before you know it. The weather has been glorious here this week, so it all feels quite deceiving. Let’s cut to the chase and get on with this week’s Friday 5+1! This post contains some affiliate links.
12 Days of Holiday Homes Tour
The 12 Days of Holiday Homes Tour has begun! I’m so excited! It feels weird not kicking things off with my own tour, as I was trying to delay mine for the sake of my sanity, but I’m wishing my halls were fully decked and I was basking in the glow. Soon enough! Until then, check out these homes to inspire you for the holidays (I’m going to be snooping for new ideas myself!).
Today starts off with Dixie Delights and Sincerely Marie Designs, and a big shout out to Lynch Creek Farm for sponsoring the tour again this year!
I’m loving this festive table that Dixie Delights has pulled together!
And over at Sincerely Marie Designs, it’s all classic and cozy – I love it!

Stranger Things Shirt
Are you or your kiddos fans of Stranger Things? For me, it brought back memories of being an 80’s kid, and I loved it. For the Stranger Things fans in your family, consider this fun t-shirt as a holiday gift idea. I’m thinking my boys will appreciate it.
Feliz Naughty Dog
Given that our two year-old pup still manages to get into trouble, this cute Feliz Naughty Dog bandana caught my eye. Although, if I bought it for him, he would probably manage to pull it off and chew it up…
Duckbill Napping Shears
Hear me out on this one. We had our carpets cleaned a couple of weeks ago, and in the process, my amazing magician of a carpet cleaner pulled out a pair of these duckbill napping shears to snip the snags in our family room rug. They’re made to cut just right and not unravel the rug or cause other problems. I’m thinking I need to add them to my tool arsenal.
An Awesome and Stylish Ceiling Fan Alternative
(Stile sent me complimentary products, but the opinions are entirely my own)
I discovered the Stile Anderson fan while I was at Haven this year, and was immediately intrigued by the idea of a stylish looking light/fan that could replace the standard ceiling fan. Our family appreciates and uses the ceiling fans in the house, even if they’re not all that attractive. My middle son, especially, is perhaps addicted to his fan. He loves the noise (a fan of white noise since he was a baby), and the function as well. Stile was kind enough to send me two of their fans and my younger two kids are. in. love.
Did I mention the light and fan function with a remote?
To quote my son (and I’m not even kidding) – “If this thing spit out food, I’d never have to leave my room.” He likes it that much. If that’s not a testimonial, I don’t know what is. 😉
They’re even pretty when you look at them lying down.
The Stile Anderson fan is now available at Home Depot, but I’m giving one away here too! Enter to win one of your own – I think you’ll enjoy it as much as my kiddos do.

My +1 for the week – Pre-lit Christmas Trees
Pre-lit Christmas trees seemed like a good idea, but the more I wrestle with them every year, the more I’m thinking I need to go back to a standard-issue plain old Christmas tree. Last year, I made myself crazy trying to fix my dead bulbs, and the time that I spent messing with it (before ultimately just adding new lights), I could have had the tree up and decorated! We ordered a new pre-lit tree for our basement, and the bottom portion of the lights is already out, and it’s brand new. Sending it back. I’m just kind of over it now, you know?
Simple is nice, until it’s not so simple anymore. Do you have a pre-lit tree or do you add lights?
Have an awesome weekend friends!
Jenny

December 1, 2017 at 7:29 amI would put the fan in our master bedroom. We’re 6 months into living in our ‘new’ home and there are lots of updates to be done. After having the entire house painted, the master is next on the list to re-do. And I’m with you on the pre-lit trees! Even if all the bulbs work, it seems like there still aren’t enough lights so you have to add more. I’ve never had a real tree before, but I’m thinking that’s the way we will go from now on!

December 1, 2017 at 7:59 amI love your 5 + 1 blogs. Very interesting design on the fan/light. Would be especially useful in a small room that might be overwhelmed by the blades of a standard fan

December 1, 2017 at 9:00 amMy pre-lit lasted one year. The second year a section went out, after it was decorated, of course.
When I undecorated that year, I spent an hour clipping every one of the pre lit light strings off and now I just put my own lights up every year.

December 1, 2017 at 2:50 pmI never thought about clipping off the pre-lit light strings Lisa! Great idea!

December 1, 2017 at 9:45 amThat fan is so unique! The smaller footprint would be perfect in my daughter’s room where she has a loft bed, and we don’t want a giant ceiling fan in the way.

December 1, 2017 at 9:53 amWe have a 10 year old prelit tree. When I brought it up from the basement this year, approximately 2/3 of the bulbs were out. I took it to the garden center where we purchased it. They replaced 475 bulbs to the tune of almost $200! The tree is still in great condition, I just couldn’t see putting it in a landfill. Hopefully, we’ll get another 10 years out of it. But yeah, after that, I’m out of the prelit tree game.

December 1, 2017 at 2:48 pmI think we’re on seven years with our tree, because we bought it the year we bought our house (and needed a bigger tree). I guess seven years isn’t too terrible, but trying to fix burned out lightbulbs is enough to make a sane person crazy! I think I need to drink wine so that I’M pre-lit when I pull out the Christmas tree! 😉

December 1, 2017 at 11:17 amI love that fan! I would put one in every bedroom in my home. Here in the PNW, we don’t really need AC except for a few days a year. However, we do need fans every day during our short summers.

December 1, 2017 at 2:34 pmMy kids room. We live in a older home and their space is technically the attic, with sloped ceilings we can’t put regular ceiling fans in but these would work.

December 1, 2017 at 2:41 pmMy husband said he didn’t care for the fan but I think if we won it he’d change his mind!
I’m torn between the kitchen and our bedroom …

December 1, 2017 at 3:02 pmMy mom cave (the den) and my bedroom. Both need new fans desperately. The one in the mom cave makes a tapping noise – I am told it is a bearing. And the one in the bedroom can’t be leveled for love or money. Those fans look amazing. Here’s hoping.

December 1, 2017 at 3:16 pmLOVE the fan light by Stiles! I love how far these necessities, at least in my house, have come. I’m thinking this would look good in our master but also on our sun porch.
