Painted Kitchen Cabinets in Sherwin Williams’ Highly Reflective White

I have been catching up on kitchen projects here, and have a gorgeous one to share with you today.  This kitchen was nothing horrible to begin with, but the house is new to the homeowner, and she wanted to make it more her own style, which I think we all can understand.  She had been working with a local construction company on some of the changes, and brought me in to paint her cabinets.  New quartz countertops, a revamped wall of cabinets that added a beverage fridge, new backsplash – lots of changes to give it a fresh look.  My contribution was painted kitchen cabinets in Sherwin Williams’ Highly Reflective White (SW 7757).

Before

Like I said, the before photos of this kitchen are nothing awful, just not in keeping with the homeowner’s personal style and taste. She has added some other really cool elements to this house already – a beautiful focal wall with molding, a fresh and modern railing to her downstairs area, and before they bought the house, gorgeous new floors were installed by the previous homeowner, so the kitchen needed some updates to fall in line.

Highly Reflective White Sherwin Williams

This area is one part of the kitchen that got quite a makeover and is way more functional (and pretty) as a result.

Here you can see it before the cabinets were painted.  They got rid of the upper cabinets, in favor of two-tiered glass front cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling.  I love the addition of a beverage fridge too.  And the had to bump the wall out a little bit to accommodate the changes.  Well worth it, don’t you think?

The homeowner wanted to take all of the cabinets to the ceiling, but with the way the recessed lighting is positioned, it wouldn’t work without a big revamp.

The Color Choice – Sherwin Williams’ Highly Reflective White

A big concern of the homeowner was choosing the right white to go with her beautiful new countertops.  One that wouldn’t read as “yellow” in any way, shape or form, next to the counters.  We opted for Sherwin Williams’ Highly Reflective White (SW 7757).  It works beautifully with the new quartz counters and is a bright, crisp white for the new look of the space.  It’s so white, it practically blends into the background as I share a color swatch here…

After

I sprayed everything in this kitchen – including the frames because it’s a fairly large kitchen with some detailing – and spraying just makes the most sense in those situations.  It really turned out beautifully now that it’s coming together.  Some of these are photos I took at the end of the day when I finished, and the homeowner was kind enough to send some as well.

You can see that the crown molding got a lift too – they added some chunkier molding to give it a bit more heft – it really works with the high ceilings in here.

And the beautiful backsplash in the herringbone pattern is just gorgeous, isn’t it?

But let’s not forget to mention the real focal point in here – this quartz.  I think keeping the black and white pattern on the island and going with a simple black on the perimeter really works, don’t you?

And this beautiful bank of cabinets is a highly functional and beautiful addition.  New lighting is going in up top – (this one got a little too grainy in my editing efforts, my apologies.)  This is the first time I’ve used Sherwin Williams’ Highly Reflective White.   I love working with new colors and comparing them to some of my “regulars”.  It’s a keeper!

So there you have it – another kitchen in the books.  I’m on to another spray job this week, and my daughter has been my new apprentice-in-training.  She’s only 14, and has been wanting to earn money, so I’m putting her to work! It’s been so much fun working with her.  She’s a fast learner, pays attention to detail, and doesn’t mind hard work.  It’s great to have an extra set of hands on some of these big jobs.

Side note – in the meantime, here at home, our deck is coming along too.  We don’t have stairs, which leaves our dogs perpetually confused since they can’t go out the way they normally do. BUT, we’re moving in the right direction.  It’s a project where you don’t fully appreciate how bad it looked until you see the new stuff installed.

Always happy to see a new kitchen project. It’s beautiful and I am impressed that you were able to paint that kitchen in one day!

I can’t say that I painted it all in a day – it’s definitely a prep process when everything is sprayed! But it’s a stunner!

Wow, what a striking island top, it looks amazing! Very excited she was able to make this space her own. For me, I would have wanted to paint the island base a different color, likely darker, to ground it. Maybe one of those saturated deep navy/teal colors that I see trending. Overall, just wonderful! Thanks for sharing.

That looks great. I think spraying the cabinets really gives them a factory finish! Nice job!

Wow what a gorgeous kitchen I really love the colors. You always do a beautiful painting job. How about you take on a job in Utah with all of your expenses paid for? I had a painting company paint all of the rooms in my condo and I should have been more thorough in checking the work prior too paying. Crappy job and I can’t get a hold of them so I got burned. What color is the backsplash? I can’t really tell from my phone which I have dropped a few times. Is it a aqua color? Beautiful job Jen. 👏👍

Thank you!! You’re tempting me with a trip to Utah, as I’ve never been, and it looks beautiful! The backsplash in this gorgeous kitchen is definitely an aqua hue – it’s a gorgeous glass subway tile. Sorry you’ve had such bad luck with your painters – unfortunately, the industry as a whole has a bad reputation for doing stuff like this. I tell everyone that it’s not that difficult to be successful in this industry – showing up, and doing a good job go a long way!

I’m working on a post about it now – it’s made by Timbertech – the color is Pecan and it’s from their Legacy collection.

I use a Titan Capspray 105 HVLP turbine setup. It’s been great for this work. Prior to that, I used a HVLP conversion gun, connected to an air compressor.
