My Rug Steal of the Century

Hello!

I stumbled upon a rug deal like no other about a week ago and had to share.  I had finished up the condo kitchen and bathroom makeover, which, coincidentally was located near IKEA and the Ballard/Frontgate/Grandin Road Outlet.  So, of course, I had to stop by and check it out, right?  I was in the neighborhood, after all.

Well, wouldn’t you know – I found a stack of rugs that were on sale for $159 each, regardless of size, and saw this beauty:

Then, in chatting with another woman (who was looking at the same rug in a slightly smaller size), I was informed that the rugs were all $99.  Say WHAT?  That made an attractive rug even more attractive.

So, I bought it.  And it rung up at $95.  Aw, yeah!

I bought it with the intent of putting it in our dining room, since the colors are perfect. Got it home and then realized it was as big as the one in our family room.  (Perhaps I should have taken the woman’s offer to trade for the slightly smaller rug).

First, I tried it in the family room –

Nice, but I liked the original rug better:

So, I moved on to the dining room.  As a refresher, here is what I had in the dining room before:

And here it is with the new rug.  What do you think?  Is it too big?  I like the colors with the drapes in here, and I definitely like the price. 🙂  And, I can exchange it with the family room rug if I get bored.

I know you’re wondering what the family room rug would look like in the dining room – I thought about that too.  Just didn’t feel like doing the heavy lifting (right now).  But, the furniture sliders are still under the dining room table in case I get the urge to change things up.

Have you scored any serious deals lately?

I love the rug too and I think it's really perfect for the dining room. Its larger size is nice for when the chairs are pushed back…not having to wrestle with the edges of the rug.

The rule of thumb is that a rug should be big enough that the chairs do not come off it when pulled out. So basically, it's perfection!!! I'll try to ignore the fact that you basically STOLE that rug! Lucky girl!

I think the size is perfect. I like it when the chairs don't overlap the rug.

It looks great. The bigger rug actually makes the space of the dining room appear larger. What an amazing deal too!

I think it looks great but if you decide it is too big for your space you can sell it to me 🙂
