Master Bedroom Redo – An Update

I’m excited to share the changes that have come together so far in my friend Peggy’s master bedroom redo!  I first shared the project here, and a lot of pieces have fallen into place.  We still have some work ahead of us, but we’ve made A LOT of progress!  Let’s take a look at where we started and where we are now.  This post contains some affiliate links.

Before

Like I’ve said before, the space in this master bedroom is great.  It’s spacious and roomy, leaving us with a lot of options for furnishings and decor.  The biggest issue here is that the original furnishings didn’t fit the scale of this space, so we’ve been on a mission to make it right.

The navy chairs are staying, but the dresser is GONE!

What’s New

First order of business was adding molding to the wall where the bed is positioned.  I’ve lucked out in finding a local carpenter who does work for me as a side gig, and is amazing.  I’m so thrilled with how it turned out.  He even repositioned the wall vent so that it worked better with the design.

Here it is with this gorgeous tufted bed and the Mackenna Paisley Duvet from Pottery Barn.  Peggy already had the navy quilt, and it worked perfectly with the duvet.

The dresser from Joanna Gaines’ collection also arrived.  Here’s a peek as it was being delivered and set up.  Perfection!  We also added some decorative throw pillows to the chairs from Restoration Hardware Outlet.

We were also on the hunt for more substantial bedside tables.  Not just nightstands – this space demanded something more.  They have about four feet on either side of the bed to fill, with the headboard installed.  What shocked me is that so many of the options that we liked were so expensive.  I just couldn’t bring myself to drop big dollars on bedside tables.  I knew the look I liked – something with a little bit of a curve to it and some substance.

We both love this Corsica 3 Drawer Bachelor Chest.  Once I saw it, I couldn’t get it out of mind.  But it’s almost $1200.  I think the Joanna Gaines dresser we got was less than that!  It’s just not right.

So, after exchanging about 7,452 text messages, we backed away from the internet and took a break from looking.  Sometimes you need to just walk away, right?  It’s like the universe knows that you’re looking, and you most certainly won’t find it when you’re searching that much.

That’s when I stopped by Restoration Hardware Outlet and found this.  It was another one that had caught our eye during our internet searching, but again, too spendy at over $800 each.  At the outlet, they were marked down, with another 40% off, and this one was discounted even more because the top was damaged.  Because, of course, I’m going to paint it.

The downside was that there was only one.  But, Peggy took charge and got on their list to get a call if they got any new shipments at the store.  And the next thing I knew, I got a text from her with this beauty.

So now I’m on a mission to find the perfect paint color…

Joanna Gaines Paint Colors

If you’re wondering about wall color – that was a decision that took awhile.  In the end, we went with Revere Pewter – my trusty favorite.  So, I’m thinking we can get a little bold with the nightstands.  I don’t think these photos do the colors justice – they’re all so gorgeous.

But trust me, we experimented with samples.  We were considering the second one on the left, but we allowed Peggy’s husband to have a wee bit of input on the decision and vetoed it.  That’s where Revere Pewter comes in for the save.  I swear, I’ve never seen it in a room and not liked it.

But, I’ll save that reveal for the next update!  Still more to come!

What room are you working on in your home?  Do you have a master bedroom redo underway, or something else altogether?
