Kitchen Cabinets in Snowbound and Waterloo

It’s been awhile since I’ve shared a customer kitchen – I’ve been super busy and have a lot of work ahead on my books, so hopefully I’ll have some more fun before and afters to share with you.  This kitchen is a fun one because of the use of color – painting the cabinets in Sherwin Williams’ Snowbound and Waterloo (a new color for me).  As I’ve said before, white kitchens can become sterile very easily if you’re not careful, so the incorporated of color and the refinished floors in this space, do a whole lot to keep it from feeling boring.

Before

There is a whole lot of work going into this kitchen, and still more to come, even now that I’m done.  But, it’s still an amazing new look, even where it is now.  Let’s take a look back at what it looked like when I first saw it.

I know there are lots of people out there dealing with the “orange kitchen situation”.  The floors and cabinets have gone orange with time, and you’re over it!  I get it.  You change the floors, and then the cabinets look even more orange.  Or vice versa.  The struggle is real.

What’s Changing:

  • Floors are being refinished
  • New countertops
  • Trim being added to the island and crown molding added to the top of the cabinets
  • New lighting
  • New backsplash
  • Painting cabinets (of course)
  • New cabinet hardware

Why Snowbound and Waterloo?

The great thing about this kitchen is that the inspiration point was clear – the valances in the kitchen and breakfast room.  Lots of great colors to incorporate into this kitchen refresh.

You all know my love of blue, so this fabric is right in my zone of favorite colors.  The homeowner already had a selection of blue paint colors for the island, and we honed in on the Sherwin Williams’ color, Waterloo (SW9141), paired with Snowbound (SW7004) for the perimeter cabinets.

By the time I started working on the cabinets, the floors had been refinished (although there is talk about going a bit darker with the stain), the trim work was added, and the counters and new lighting had been installed.  I can’t say enough about the impact that beefed up trim does in terms of giving a kitchen a next level look.  It’s just adds such a luxe feel to a space.

My carpenter guys never let me down.  They trimmed everything out so beautifully, and I so appreciate their attention to detail.  They caulk, fill nail holes, you name it – very little work required on my part to paint the trim work that they add.

After

Here is the kitchen as it stands now.  Like I said, still more work to be done, but it’s still soooo good.  The homeowner promised to send me more photos once everything is done.

What do you think?  Are you loving the color in here as much as I am?  This kitchen has come together so beautifully – I can’t wait to see it all completed.

The transformation is amazing! Would you let me know the brand/name of the faucet? I am updating my kitchen and want a pull down faucet, but not a real tall one. I really like the one you used. Thanks!

I noticed they didn’t trim out the bottom ends of the white cabinets, is that because they wanted to call attention to the islands different color?

This is a customer’s home – I don’t know the details on the beautiful valance. Sorry!
