Friday 5+1 (5 Things I Love + 1 Thing I Don’t) – 11.18.16

Happy Friday!

We’re enjoying one last hurrah today with gorgeous 75 degree weather, before the bottom drops out over the weekend.  It’s been so nice, that I’ve been in denial that I live in the midwest, and that Winter is Coming.  It’s been nice while it’s lasted, right?

Sycamore Row

I recently finished Sycamore Row via Audible, and loved it.  It’s by John Grisham, and not only was the book spectacular, the narrator was fantastic.  If you’re an Audible fan, you can appreciate how important a good narrator is.  It’s a story about a man, who was dying of lung cancer, commits suicide and leaves his fortune to his black maid, in a hand written will he penned shortly before his death.  Lots of twists and turns in this book – a great read.  If you haven’t jumped on the Audible wagon, you can try it for free.  I’m betting you’ll get hooked.  I have been for awhile now.

Mirrored Fridge

This caught my eye awhile ago, and I wanted to share it with you.  I don’t know how a mirrored fridge would work out in everyday use, but it sure it striking to look at, don’t you think?

Or how about this one?  Stunning, and so unexpected, right?

Dusty Brush

I saw the Dusty Brush come through my Facebook feed, and thought it was brilliant.  It’s like a mini vacuum brush that sucks up the tiny little crumbs, without taking everything else with it.  Like the space in your my car that holds spare change and crumbs.  It will vacuum up the crumbs, but not the spare change.  Nice, right?

Studio McGee

Do you read/follow Studio McGee?  If you don’t, you should.  Such amazing transformational talent!  One of my favorite recent projects was their Windsong Project.  They took an already-pretty-nice-house and completely transformed it into a drop-dead-gorgeous-house.  Oh. my. goodness.  Absolutely stunning.

Dana Carvey – Straight White Male, 60

If you’re looking for something light hearted and funny, you’ll love Dana Carvey’s new stand up gig.  I’ve already watched it  – twice.  My favorite part of the show is his impressions of millennials.  Spot. on.  His impression of his 18 year-old son could very well have been my own.

Dana Carvey

My +1 for the week…

When two-day shipping isn’t really two day shipping.  I recently ordered another a product online, and needed it in a hurry, so I paid extra for two day shipping.  Lo and behold, it didn’t show up in two days.  I emailed the seller, and he was quick to respond and look into it, only to discover that two day shipping isn’t guaranteed.  What?  Why would I pay for two day shipping, if it wasn’t going to be here in two days?  It’s numbers, right?  They’re usually pretty precise.  Suffice to say, he said that he learned something new, and was kind enough to give me a partial refund for the shipping, but take note on these sorts of things as we roll into the holidays and you start ordering/shipping things.

Have a great weekend!

Jenny

Lookout for the post office as well with their priority 2 day shipping. I have used this service more times than not paying extra for this service, no more. I called the 800 number more times than I can count, they do not care! Lesson learned! Thanks.
