In all seriousness, this could easily be a reverse of the norm – because there are plenty of things that I don’t like right now. Being home, fearful, anxious, etc… And having your normal routine blown up just stinks. I have been spending an inordinate amount of time watching tv, obsessing about the situation, and it’s not helping. Sometimes you just can’t help yourself. Humor is helping me deal with this, and I have taken a lot of pleasure in all of the funny memes and videos on social media. Thank goodness for small gifts like this. So, let’s try and find some light in the darkness that we’re all feeling right now, shall we?
I don’t know about you, but my hands are taking a beating from all of the extra hand washing that is going on right now. With the work I do, they’re dry and cracked anyway, so this is adding insult to injury. In one of the Facebook groups I’m in, someone recommended this Week From Hell Hand Rescue. It sure seems appropriate in these times, doesn’t it?
My neighbor shared this funny doormat with me (because we both have dogs that lose their minds when the doorbell rings). Although I’m thinking someone needs to come up with a mat for the times we’re dealing with today. Let me think on that one.
Spending Time with my Family
While I’m sad for my boys that school has moved to being online only, and my freshman has to move out of his dorm, I’m not complaining about having my kiddos under one roof. We’re spending time together, and that’s a gift.
If you’re going to be home for awhile and have the time to read, Irena’s Children is a book that you might want to consider. It’s another historical fiction book, and the best way to describe it is that Irena is the Oskar Schindler of children during the Holocaust. A truly inspiring tale, that also gives some perspective on our current situation. Reading so many books about WWII, really gives you a whole new appreciation for the idea of “going into hiding.” Still, not even close to make a comparison, but it gives you a little bit of a window into their strength.
I told you that I’m surviving on funny memes and videos, so here’s one for your Friday. Did I mention that my daughter actually cut her own hair this week?? Yes, true story. Her bangs don’t look like this, but a professional will need to be brought in at some point.
My +1 for the week…
It’s funny, B.C. (Before Coronavirus), I had taken these pictures for my +1 for the week. I was thinking, “Why do we have to do math to figure out how many rolls of paper towels is a better deal? What’s the difference between a ‘Big Grand’ and a ‘Double’?” Oh, remember those days where paper towels and toilet paper were plentiful? Those were the days…
Be well. Be kind. Hang in there. We’re all in the same boat.
