Friday 5+1 (5 Things I Love + 1 Thing I Don’t) – 12.9.22

We’re trucking right into the holidays – are you ready?  I’m making some great progress – my daughter is the easiest out of everyone since she’s great about giving me a list, or when we’re out shopping, it’s easy to pick something up and stash it for Christmas.  My boys are much more difficult and not as good with their lists. But, we’ll figure it out. First world problems.  In the meantime, let’s have some fun and check out a Friday 5+1. This post contains some affiliate links.

The Best Boots

I recently bought these Skechers booties, since I wear boots much of the winter, and was looking for something new.  I love the look of them, but they’re also super comfy, which is a big win in my book.  I can attest to taking three college visits in these boots, and they carried on without a peep.  They’re my new favorites, and I wear them all the time.

I even pulled them out for our family photo shoot and got a new head shot while I was at it. (It’s only about um, 12 years overdue…). Ask my family, when I find something I love, I wear it out. One hundred percent.

Fun Lego Sets

You have to give Lego some major kudos with their Lego sets these days.  They keep adults in the game by making things interesting.  My daughter and I started watching Friends when she had her knee surgery, and my boys are also big fans of the show.  Add the love of Lego, and you have the Friends Lego set.  I would totally do this Lego set.

There’s also the Central Perk Lego set, which is super fun and cute.

If you’re more a fan of The Office, Lego has you covered.

Expandable Christmas Tree Storage Bag

For anyone who has a taller than average Christmas tree, you’ll want to pay attention.  We have a large tree (I think 10 feet), and I’ve had a heck of a time getting it stored after the holidays.  At last check, I had it stored in two different storage bags that were coming apart at the seams.  I found this expandable rolling Christmas tree bag that holds a 9-12 foot Christmas tree and snapped it up.  Grab it before it goes out of stock and you’re left with a hot mess situation like I have been.

Knock Off Lululemon Leggings

I’m a big fan of Lululemon workout wear, but not so much the price tag. My friend who is a fitness instructor and enthusiast, turned me on to HeyNuts leggings.  They are buttery soft and a fraction of the cost of Lulu leggings.  I have two pair already, and just ordered two more.

In case your pet gets sprayed by a skunk…

If you have pets, and they could be in the vicinity of skunks, I have a miracle cure for you.  About a month or so ago, we woke up in the middle of the night to a horrible smell.  Skunky, but we weren’t convinced it was a skunk spray.  We kept smelling our dog, and couldn’t see (or smell) that he was sprayed.  We even called the fire department.  Yes, we were those people. The police and the fire department came and said they got a whiff of the skunk smell outside (which we hadn’t been able to find), and concluded it was somehow a skunk smell.

After they left, the dog walked by me, and it was as if Pepe Le Pew had just breezed by.  I don’t think he was sprayed directly, but I think he somehow got caught up in the cloud of spray from a skunk.  My point? Getting rid of the skunk smell is something that is practically impossible in my experience.  I contacted our dog groomer, and she recommended this – Scent-A-Way liquid body soap and shampoo. It’s used for hunting, to eliminate any scent you may have on you. The same holds true for pets.  Put this on your pet for 15-20 minutes and rinse it off.  A miracle.

Murphy wasn’t happy about it, but he sure smelled better when it was all said and done.

My +1 for the week – The 7AM Amazon Delivery

While I appreciate that Amazon can do overnight deliveries, a delivery in the wee hours of the morning, when it’s still dark outside, is a non-starter for me. Perhaps the fact that said Stinky Dog above is the canine equivalent of a rooster might have something to do with it.  I don’t enjoy being jolted out of sleep with a racing heart. So, from here on out, I’m going to opt-out of the overnight delivery, because we seem to be the first on the early delivery route.

I hope you have a lovely weekend!

Jenny
