I can’t believe it’s December 1st and Christmas will be here before you know it. The weather has been glorious here this week, so it all feels quite deceiving. Let’s cut to the chase and get on with this week’s Friday 5+1! This post contains some affiliate links.
12 Days of Holiday Homes Tour
The 12 Days of Holiday Homes Tour has begun! I’m so excited! It feels weird not kicking things off with my own tour, as I was trying to delay mine for the sake of my sanity, but I’m wishing my halls were fully decked and I was basking in the glow. Soon enough! Until then, check out these homes to inspire you for the holidays (I’m going to be snooping for new ideas myself!).
Today starts off with Dixie Delights and Sincerely Marie Designs, and a big shout out to Lynch Creek Farm for sponsoring the tour again this year!
I’m loving this festive table that Dixie Delights has pulled together!
And over at Sincerely Marie Designs, it’s all classic and cozy – I love it!

Stranger Things Shirt
Are you or your kiddos fans of Stranger Things? For me, it brought back memories of being an 80’s kid, and I loved it. For the Stranger Things fans in your family, consider this fun t-shirt as a holiday gift idea. I’m thinking my boys will appreciate it.
Feliz Naughty Dog
Given that our two year-old pup still manages to get into trouble, this cute Feliz Naughty Dog bandana caught my eye. Although, if I bought it for him, he would probably manage to pull it off and chew it up…
Duckbill Napping Shears
Hear me out on this one. We had our carpets cleaned a couple of weeks ago, and in the process, my amazing magician of a carpet cleaner pulled out a pair of these duckbill napping shears to snip the snags in our family room rug. They’re made to cut just right and not unravel the rug or cause other problems. I’m thinking I need to add them to my tool arsenal.
An Awesome and Stylish Ceiling Fan Alternative
(Stile sent me complimentary products, but the opinions are entirely my own)
I discovered the Stile Anderson fan while I was at Haven this year, and was immediately intrigued by the idea of a stylish looking light/fan that could replace the standard ceiling fan. Our family appreciates and uses the ceiling fans in the house, even if they’re not all that attractive. My middle son, especially, is perhaps addicted to his fan. He loves the noise (a fan of white noise since he was a baby), and the function as well. Stile was kind enough to send me two of their fans and my younger two kids are. in. love.
Did I mention the light and fan function with a remote?
To quote my son (and I’m not even kidding) – “If this thing spit out food, I’d never have to leave my room.” He likes it that much. If that’s not a testimonial, I don’t know what is. 😉
They’re even pretty when you look at them lying down.
The Stile Anderson fan is now available at Home Depot, but I’m giving one away here too! Enter to win one of your own – I think you’ll enjoy it as much as my kiddos do.

My +1 for the week – Pre-lit Christmas Trees
Pre-lit Christmas trees seemed like a good idea, but the more I wrestle with them every year, the more I’m thinking I need to go back to a standard-issue plain old Christmas tree. Last year, I made myself crazy trying to fix my dead bulbs, and the time that I spent messing with it (before ultimately just adding new lights), I could have had the tree up and decorated! We ordered a new pre-lit tree for our basement, and the bottom portion of the lights is already out, and it’s brand new. Sending it back. I’m just kind of over it now, you know?
Simple is nice, until it’s not so simple anymore. Do you have a pre-lit tree or do you add lights?
Have an awesome weekend friends!
Jenny

December 1, 2017 at 5:44 pmI would love this fan in our sitting room! I redid all my outside pre-lit wreaths that didn’t work anymore by clipping off the old lights and installing new. It took much longer than I thought!

December 1, 2017 at 6:03 pmI would put this in our master bedroom.

December 1, 2017 at 6:39 pmI would use the Stile fan in my office/craft room, in our guest bedroom, and in our sitting room. Oh dear, I guess if I win I’ll have to buy more.

December 1, 2017 at 8:30 pmThat is an attractive fan. I would put that in one of the bedrooms. Much better looking than the traditional ceiling fan. Thanks for the giveaway!

December 1, 2017 at 9:04 pmAlmost every room in my house is in need of new light fixtures or fans. This would be amazing in my family room!

December 1, 2017 at 9:23 pmThat fan is exactly what I need for my son’s room!! He sleeps on the top bunk, and his traditional ceiling fan blades are just too close for my comfort. What a genius idea!

December 1, 2017 at 11:23 pmIn my living room. I knew there had to be a nicer alternative to a ceiling fan, and now I’ve found it!

December 2, 2017 at 12:12 amLove the fan! It would go in my newly established “Mer’s room”. As a mother of 4 boys I don’t have a pretty & relaxing area just for me. No more! I have recently claimed the unused “living room”… it started with the installation of glass French doors, hardwood floors, new paint…I’m giddy with excitement. The beautiful, yet functional fan would add to room.

December 2, 2017 at 7:38 amI would love one of these Stile Anderson fans! They look so cool (pun intended) and without the unsightly blades of a traditional ceiling fan. I’d use it in our beach house bedroom which has no central air and very low ceilings. Pick me!

December 2, 2017 at 9:13 amThe lovely flush mount fan would look lovely in any room, but I would put it in a very small bedroom that has a gigantic 80’s fan at the present time.

December 2, 2017 at 9:28 amHi Jenny,
I’ve enjoyed you so much on my feed I didn’t realize I wasn’t signed up to get your emails….running into some problems but I will figure it out. Meanwhile, NEED, MUST have ceiling fan fixture of beaUUty. My kids all hate their ceiling fans…..well they like the concept of the air flow, but hate their ceiling fans. So I would love to win one so I could purchase another one. Finally someone designs a thing of beauty and function!!

December 2, 2017 at 5:47 pmLove that the fan doesn’t have exposed blades. I would definitely put it in our master bedroom, our bed sits under our fan slightly and I always worry that my kids will hit their heads on the blades if they jump on the bed (not that they are allowed to . . .but that doesn’t always stop them!).
Also I love your 5+1 posts and try to read them every week.

December 2, 2017 at 7:44 pmI’m debating on getting a pre-lit tree. Now keep in mind I haven’t done any shopping for one but my husband thinks the pre-lit trees with LED lights won’t be a problem with not working. I worry about the type of light the LED bulbs will give off. So I’m leaning towards a tree that’s not pre-lit.

December 2, 2017 at 11:00 pmReally neat fan! I would put this in my great room for sure. Love that there are no blades and the whole thing looks more like a light fixture. Thanks for sharing this new ceiling fan design, Jenny. Your son’s comment about it has me sold 🙂 -Jill

December 3, 2017 at 2:54 amWe have a regular ceiling fan in our living room. Since we live in Phoenix, ceiling fans are a must. The stile fans are so pretty while still cranking out the aur. Fingers crossed that I win.

December 3, 2017 at 10:50 amLove the fan. So pretty. I would put it in my son’s bedroom. Just to update the old fan that’s in there.
I have a prelit tree and all this lights are broken and I have to restring it and it’s a challenge. Good luck!

December 3, 2017 at 1:40 pmMy tree does not come pre-lit because I get it out of the woods every year! 🙂 It comes pre-scented, though; nothing like the wonderful scent of a Grand Fir all through your house, and no pesky chemical lists to read through and decide if they are “safe” or not.
Plus, I know I am doing the Montana forests good by thinning trees. Whenever we cut down a Christmas tree, we appropriately thin our local (too-overgrown) forests and help reduce the risk of cataclysmic forest fires in the area as we had last summer (most people do not realize that forests either burn up or must be thinned). Plus when I’m done with the tree, I can either dispose of the scraps to be ground for mulch, cut it up and spread it out for bio-diversity habitat in the woods, trim off the branches and re-purpose it as pole bean support in my vegetable garden (edible therapy, anyone?), or burn it at a marshmallow/wienie roast later in the year (all of which I have done over the years).
And no pre-lit lights to go out or plastic trees to dispose of! Sounds like a sustainable win-win to me. Wish more people lived near the forests like I do. I’m wholly in favor of live trees whenever you can get ’em.

December 3, 2017 at 6:36 pmA female had to think this idea! It is brilliant!!! I love a fan, but don’t like looking at them. This is the perfect solution.
