Friday 5+1 (5 Things I Love + 1 Thing I Don’t) – 1.27.17

Hello!

I can’t believe we’re to the end of January, and this is my first Friday 5+1 post.  It wasn’t intentional, life just got in the way.  Since it’s been awhile, I have quite a few good things to share with you this week.  This post contains some affiliate links.

Tree Ring Artwork

I’m helping a friend of mine choose artwork for her kitchen, and I’m really excited about the selections we made.  I’m so enthused, that I’m tempted to buy some tree ring artwork for myself!  It’s just really unique and striking.  We opted for six prints (that will flank a fireplace, with three on each side), and I’m excited to see how they make a statement.  Here is a sampling of the some of the options we found from Linton Art on Etsy.

Large Scale Artwork

Speaking of artwork, while looking for artwork, I found myself drawn to some really cool large scale artwork.  You know I’m a fan of gallery walls, but what’s not to like with something like this?

And this one just made me giggle a little bit.  I love it with the striped walls – and who wouldn’t get a kick out of it?

The Chemist

I’m still listening to audiobooks on a regular basis, and recently finished The Chemist.  Think of it as a Jason Bourne type of book, but the central character is a woman.  Good read, as I enjoy these sorts of spy/CIA books and movies.

Cafe Express Chai Latte

So I will admit that I have a bit of an unnatural love of the Chai Latte from Starbucks.  And when it’s really cold out, I crave them even more.  But we all know that they can get on the spendy side pretty quick.  I discovered a great alternative that I can use in my Keurig – the Chai Latte from Cafe Express.  I had one last weekend while on my scrapbooking trip, and it was a great alternative to Starbucks – really tasty, and WAY less expensive.  (Side note: if you have trouble sleeping, try this Sleepytime tea.  I don’t know what’s in it, but it works every time.)

Food Huggers

I’m not talking about a person who likes to caress a piece of chocolate (not that I would ever be accused of doing such a thing), but these food huggers are another smart little invention that leave you wondering why someone didn’t think of it sooner.

My +1 for the week…

The gym at the beginning of a new year.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for people embarking on a new fitness kick. I work out on a regular basis, and I guess I’m getting a little crotchety in this area.  Especially in crowded workout classes.  I feel like Baby from Dirty Dancing – “This is my dance space, this is your dance space.”  There should be a sign.

This is My Dance Space

Have a GREAT weekend!

Ha, I am laughing about the gym comment. I am sure the regulars dread January each month.

Oh do I agree with your Plus 1. I’m active at my gym year round – but I hate going in January. It’s packed full of people that have no clue.

YES! It’s not so much that there are new people there – I’m glad for that. It’s the cluelessness that bothers me more than anything. Be aware of your surroundings people!

I have been an Audible subscriber for over 10 years. I can do any boring job in the world if I have a good book to listen too. I, too, enjoyed The Chemist. I do hope she is going to write a sequel.

Totally agree Terrie! I feel like I’m able to read and “expand my horizons” via Audible. It’s been such a blessing in times where I’m doing tedious work! I don’t know how I ever lived without it!
