Friday 5+1 (5 Things I Love + 1 Thing I Don’t)

Happy Friday!

We’re gearing up for a big party this weekend – our second annual fish fry.  Last year’s was a lot of fun (even though it rained), but this weekend’s forecast is looking fantastic, so I’m excited to be outside to enjoy some fun times with family and friends.

On to this week’s Friday 5+1!

Pretty Invitations
Speaking of the fish fry, I love the invitations that Annie put together from The Envelope.  She’s got such a great eye for design, and the quality is second to none.

School Toolbox
With it being back-to-school season, that means school supplies.  I’ll admit it, I love school supplies – so many cute options out there nowadays.  However, for some, it can be a bit of a hassle, and they prefer a one stop shop.  Enter School Toolbox – a box full of all of your school supplies, all neatly pulled together in a box.  It’s offered through many schools, and can be customized to your student’s individual supply list.  However, I recently spotted them on Amazon, organized by grade, and compared their contents to my daughter’s supply list, and they’re pretty comprehensive.  It’s worth taking a look, if you loathe the back-to-school shopping crowds.

I may have to pick up this pencil bag for myself, it’s so cute.

Fitbit Bracelets
I love my Fitbit, but it’s certainly not the most attractive thing, especially when you wear it 24×7.  Enter Fitbit bracelets by Fun and Funky Fitness ala Etsy.  A gal at Haven told me about this Etsy shop, and I just placed an order for some bracelets for myself.  Just a clever little way to make your Fitbit a little more stylish.

Cute, right?

Fox Paint Brushes
If you follow me on Instagram, you saw that I just got a new shipment of paint brushes.

Fox Paint Brushes have become are my new favorites, and I’m quickly filling up my toolbox with many different types that they offer.  I discovered them while reading Traditional Painter – a site that contains lots of beautifully hand painted kitchens (yes, hand painted), as well as a treasure trove of tips and tricks for getting a beautiful finish.  I’m always on the lookout for new products and tools, and paint goes on like buttah with these beauties.  I use them on kitchen frames for cabinet jobs where I’m not spraying using my hvlp spray gun, and they give a beautifully smooth finish.

The Foxy Bundle is a great starter kit if you’re looking for a variety of brushes.

I love these small brushes for touch-ups, or working on the narrow inset areas of cabinet frames.  They’re just the right size.

If you’re tackling spindles (probably my least favorite project), these sash brushes are the tool for the job.

I’m excited to try this laying off brush – it’s supposed to be used after you apply paint with a roller so that the final finish is smooth and level.

I have not been disappointed in any of their paint brushes, and am a firm believer in investing in good brushes if you’re looking for a good result!

((Jumping off my soapbox now))  But in all honesty, I love these brushes, and have a bit of a brush hoard going on right now with these beauties.

A Peek at the Everything But The House Warehouse
Yesterday I got to attend an event with other local bloggers, put on by Everything But The House (EBTH).  They are such a unique and passionate group – I enjoy their site and their online auction offerings, as well as their integrity and hands on approach to handling estate sales.  We got to take a look behind the scenes at their warehouse, and it is just a treasure trove of goodies!

Plus, I got to meet some other bloggers and chat and share ideas, which is always a lot of fun.  A couple of highlights for me –  Andrea, from Oak Ridge Revival was there, and it was so great to finally meet her in person, as we’ve been online friends for years now.  What a fun surprise!

I also met Anissa from House Seven who could not have been any cuter or nicer if she tried.  I was in awe of the work she’s doing strictly through Instagram, and the fact that she has grown her following from about 100 followers to 46,000 in ONE YEAR.  Mind. Blown.  You need to check out her Instagram feed if you’re not following her already.  Beautiful home, beautiful photos.

Here is a group shot on one of the crazy items that is going up for auction at EBTH.com.  Vintage Cadillac couch anyone?  If I look tired, it’s because I am.  See my +1 Thing I Don’t Like for more detail.

My +1 thing I’m not liking this week, is waking up at 3AM with this little guy.  It’s a good thing he’s cute, is all I can say.

Have a great weekend!

Jenny, you are too sweet! It was such a pleasure "meeting" you and spending the day with you. Can't wait until we can get together again. Wine will definitely be involved next time!
