Favorite Posts and Projects of 2018

I love looking back at the year and recapping the things that we’ve seen and done, and the same holds true with blogging.  So I’m going through the posts of 2018 and pulling my favorite posts and projects and pulling them together in case you missed them.  My favorite posts seem to gravitate around all things paint, paint colors and before and after projects.  I’m looking forward to more in 2019!  Thanks so much for following along.  Is there anything you’d like to see more of in 2019?  I’m all ears.  This post contains some affiliate links.

My Favorite Benjamin Moore Paint Colors

You know my love of paint colors, and I already have some ideas in mind in this same niche for next year.  My favorite paint colors are kind of a fluid thing – they ebb and flow over the years, so I know this will be a post that I’ll revisit in the future.  For now, you can check out my favorite Benjamin Moore paint colors (of 2018) here.

My Favorite Sherwin Williams Paint Colors

We can’t look at Benjamin Moore colors without giving Sherwin Williams some face time, can we?  While I’ll admit, I’m more comfortable with Benjamin Moore colors than I am with Sherwin Williams, but I do have quite a few Sherwin Williams colors in my home, and I use them for customers regularly.  You can see my full post on my favorite Sherwin Williams Paint Colors here.

Julian Price Mansion: Hoarder House Restored

I’m a little embarrassed to admit how riveted I am by shows like Hoarders (and My 600 Pound Life) – I just can’t help myself.  But the Julian Price Mansion Hoarders episode was like nothing I’ve ever seen before when it comes to hoarding.  It was the mother-of-all-hoarding episodes.  They had to break it into two episodes it was so crazy.  But the good news is that this amazing mansion was completely restored by the amazing new homeowners (who should be sainted for what they went through in dealing with the previous owner).

Here is the exterior of the home before the renovations — check out the full post with before and after photos here.  It’s truly spectacular and a labor of love.

My One Room Challenge Navy Zen Den

I jumped into the Spring 2018 One Room Challenge this year, and decided to tackle my old office area and make it into an extra room for guests/hanging out/etc…  I have to tell you, this room has gotten a lot more use since it’s been repurposed.  And while I don’t love that it was sometimes used as a beer pong room, I love having the extra sleeping space with the amazing navy tufted trundle bed that we added in there.  Invaluable when you have kids who have friends that sleep over after playing video games until zero dark thirty.  Check out the full transformation here.

The Biggest, Scariest, Kitchen I’ve Ever Done

Looking back on 2018, I did step out of my comfort zone and tackle things that were BIG and scary.  Including this gigantic kitchen makeover.  While it was completely intimidating, I’m so glad that I did it.  After doing a job like this, it doesn’t get much bigger, does it?  Check out the full post for before, during and after photos.

Paint Spraying Made Simple

Then there was this paint spraying made simple post, where I showed you how you can redo a piece of furniture without an expensive paint sprayer.  You can still get a professional result, even if you’re painting in your own garage.   I mean, just look at how beautifully this dresser turned out – the proof is in the finished product.

Anew Gray Kitchen Cabinets

I’ll round out this list with one of my favorite client kitchen projects from this year.  Painting these kitchen cabinets in Anew Gray was such a fun transformation, and so different from the colors that I usually do.  I’m still smitten with it!  It’s such a gorgeous (Sherwin Williams) color!

Sherwin Williams Anew Gray Kitchen Cabinet Makeover Before/After

I hope you’re enjoying time off with your friends and family over the holidays, and I’m excited to share new things with you in 2019!  I’ve gotten a lot of entries for my cabinet painting giveaway, and we’re working through them to narrow down to the three finalists so that you can vote and choose the winner!  I’m so excited to kick off the new year with something new and exciting!

Again, what would you like to see more of in 2019?  I’d love to hear what you like (and what you don’t), so that I can fine tune my content in 2019.

Love your site! I will be painting my bedroom furniture and the information that you have provided is so helpful that I feel confident I can do this! I think! I am having a difficult time deciding what color s to use. Do you offer advice ? I can send pictures of my furniture and would love your help. I know you are very busy and I would be more than willing to pay a fee to you for your help and time.
