The kids are all in school today, no cancellations, no 2-hour delays, life is good. With the holidays and all, I haven’t done a Friday 5+1 in awhile, so let’s get down to business!
Secrets of Personal Organizers
As I mentioned on Wednesday, I’ve worked myself into an organizational frenzy and have been focused on my kitchen. I’m *this close* to being finished, and only have a couple more drawers and one big, messy cabinet that I’ve been putting off until last.
But it looks better than it has in … forever, and I’ve tackled a lot of my paper clutter which is just plain liberating.
That said, here’s an interesting article that provides some insight as we tackle the clutter in our homes with a vengeance – 13 Secrets Personal Organizers Would Never Tell You For Free.
Design Trends for 2015
This article in the Wall Street Journal on the what’s in and what’s out for 2015 is worth a read. While I don’t typically go all in with trends, I sometimes like to emulate them in small ways. I guess I’m ahead of trend with my moody indigo powder room, right? 😉
I know I’m behind the curve on fitness gear, but whatever. I got a FitBit for Christmas, and I’m hooked! I love that it tracks my steps and calories, and find myself trying to improve each day. Yesterday was a record for me in terms of steps – I was a cleaning fool, and didn’t even make it to the gym
because my kids’ 2 hour delay screwed up my workout schedule. Killing it with over 21,000 steps yesterday!
Tablecloths as Fabric Sources
You know I’m a fan of tablecloth window treatments, and when I was at HomeGoods recently, I saw some more great candidates. Don’t forget to check the table linens for sewing (or no sewing, my preference) projects! Aren’t these pretty?
House Stalking Tours
It’s no secret that I’m a house stalker, and this house is one I have always
This is a photo of when it was first built – I thought I had one in my house stalking, but can’t find it. Anyway… guess who was invited here for a New Year’s Eve party? Yep, this girl! I met the homeowner through a mutual friend (who happens to read my blog), and we hit it off and chatted like old friends. When she told me where she lived, I admitted my house stalking, so there was full disclosure. I got a few pics at the party (and the house was gorgeous, just like I thought it would be), and am thinking about doing a House Stalking series here on the blog, sharing homes that I love, with you. I’m hoping to go back for a repeat visit with a legit camera.
A couple of sneak peeks –
The One Thing I Don’t Like
We bought a new tv and had the lovely task of hanging it where the old one was. Whoever makes the mounting brackets for wall mounted televisions is a sadist. There, I said it. There has to be an easier way! First world problems, I know.
These types of photos just perpetuate the lie:
This is so not our experience. Suffice to say, we still have some adjusting to do.
Where is the door to the bottom cabinet? Oh yes, I broke the hinge while trying to take off the door to squeeze our Bose Solo (sitting on the counter) down below. Um, yeah, didn’t fit. Good times.
Have a great weekend!
