Friday 5+1 (5 Things I Love + 1 Thing I Don’t)

Hello!

I hope you’ve had a great week and a weekend planned doing things you enjoy.  I’m just excited to be going to a party instead of hosting one. 🙂

Are you ready for this week’s 5+1 list?  I’m excited to share it!  This post contains some affiliate links.

This Bed
I’m sure I’ve said it before, but I’ve wanted an upholstered bed for as long as I can remember.  I love our bedroom, our king sized bed, our furniture, but my DIY headboard has seen better days.  I was out shopping with a friend, helping her find some furniture items for her home, when I found this at the Frontgate Outlet.

Oh. My. Goodness.  This bed took my breath away.  I’ve never seen anything like it.  I love the curves, and how it wraps around the sides.  It has a grand, but cozy vibe to it, if that makes sense.

This bed retails for an insane price, and was marked down at the outlet, but was still way too spendy for me.  They were doing a “Buy One, Get One for 50% Off” sale, but you know how those sales work – the 50% is taken off the least expensive item.

But then they told me I could buy anything in the store (even a bag of candy), and they’d give me the 50% off the bed.

I walked away telling them that I needed to talk to my husband (since I don’t want to be divorced).  I called them a bit later, asking if I could put it on hold and they told me someone else was looking at the bed.  At that moment, I realized how much I really wanted it and would regret not getting it.  So I bought it over the phone.  I feel a bit sick and excited all at the same time.

So you’re looking at my Christmas/birthday/anniversary gift for the next few years.

I think it’s going to look gorgeous in our bedroom, and they do have a 10 day return policy, so if I don’t love it, I can take it back.  Here’s an old photo of our master bedroom – can you picture the new bed in there?

Secrets of a Charmed Life
I just finished Secrets of a Charmed Life and just loved it.  It’s one of those (audio)books that I was sad to see it end, and depressed that I don’t have it to listen to now that I’m done.  I highly recommend it!  I’m an Audible girl – I listen to books just about wherever I go – in my car, at home, you name it.

You can try it for a free 30 day trial, which is what I did (and how I got hooked).  Consider yourself warned.

Best of the Best – Books
While we’re on the subject of books, here is a “Best of the Best” list of books from The Wall Street Journal – you might find something you want to read here.  I’m always on the lookout for new recommendations (especially when I finish a good book).

Parchment Paper Sheets
It’s the holiday season, which typically means lots of baking.  I know I do tons of it, and I’m a fan of parchment paper sheets when I bake cookies.  Not the parchment paper on a roll – that is just a nightmare and never lays flat.  The sheets do.  Win.

Habits of People Who Are Never Late
If you’re always on time, this article at Country Living about habits of people who are never late, won’t interest you.  But, if you’re like me, it will.  I certainly need all the help I can get.

My +1 for the week – the misuse of the words “your” and “you’re”.  I think my grammar insanity comes from my parents – my mom was a teacher and my dad was a college professor.  It’s a sickness.

Have a wonderful weekend, and don’t forget to catch up on the 12 Days of Christmas Tour of Homes!

You get two tours for the price of one at Suburban Bitches – oh my goodness, so gorgeous!

And the cuteness factor is on overload at Our Storied Home.

I just started reading "The Nightingale" the other day, and I'm LOVING it! These World War II fiction books are a new genre for me, and I'm finding them so compelling. Can't stop listening!

The headboard is beautiful. You definitely made the right decision and it will look fab in your room. You have to treat yourself occasionally. I definitely do not think you will regret it but if you decide not to keep it, they will take it back…win/win.
