A Review: Restoration Hardware Outlet Grand Opening!

Hello!

I don’t know if it was intentional or not, but I heard through a client that the Restoration Hardware Outlet had opened today.  I didn’t see it anywhere else – and there isn’t even a sign outside of the store, so perhaps the “soft opening” was intentional.  Either way, I’m excited that I was one of the lucky ones to check it out early.  If you follow me on Instagram, you got a sneak peek as well. 🙂

Here is the address, since I know some of you will want to know.

Restoration Hardware Outlet
985 S. Main St.
Centerville, OH 45458

There are a few things I consider when rating an outlet:

  • How is the merchandise selection?
  • Are the prices true “outlet” prices?
  • What is the condition of the merchandise?
That said, let me rank the Restoration Hardware Outlet by these measures.
Merchandise Selection
Granted, this is the first day that this store was open, but I’d say that their selection was pretty great even if they didn’t have what’s on my wish list.  There was a wide variety of items – tables and chairs, furniture (lots of couches), bedding, rugs, lighting, bathroom vanities and accessories, etc…
I will say that my heart skipped a beat when I skipped walked in the door.  Wouldn’t yours?

Chesterfield sofa, anyone?

So many beautiful dining room options!

Do They Have Outlet Prices?
This is probably the biggest question you have when going into an outlet, isn’t it?  It’s a big bummer to go into an outlet expecting deep discounts, only to discover second hand items that are priced only slightly lower than retail.
At this Restoration Hardware Outlet, I would say the prices were outlet prices for the most part, but it varied.  Granted, some of the prices are still on the spendy side, since it is Restoration Hardware, after all.  But, there were deals to be had.
The prices on the items were already marked down (in varying percentages), but then there was an additional 30% discount.  So, depending upon how deep the initial discount was, the final price varied as a result.
Allow me to illustrate.  Look at this beautiful table – it retails for $1495, and they discounted it by 60%, bringing the price to $598.  Not bad, right?  Then you get an additional 30% off, so the price is down to $419.  Wow.  Too bad I’m not in the market for a dining room table.

Then you have this gorgeous upholstered bed (just what I’m looking for, but not the right color).  It’s discounted 30% off the retail price of $4155 (gulp), bringing it to $2493.  With an additional 30% off, the price comes down to $1749.
Better than $4155, but still a little high, considering the deals I found on upholstered headboards at the Arhaus Outlet in Columbus.

Then there are items like these yummy leather chairs (which are amazingly comfortable).

You can see that they are only discounted 20% off the (steep) retail price of $3050, and with an additional 30% discount, the price would be $1708.  Still seems kind of high to me.

Pay no mind to the paint on my fingernails…

I did spot some good deals in the lighting section though.  Oh, if only they had been here when I was redoing my master bathroom for the One Room Challenge!  Sorry for the photos of the boxes, but that’s all they had.  Remember, you get an additional 30% off the price marked.

These would have been perfect in my master bathroom.

Barn light anyone?

I should have snapped up these nightstands – they were just the right size for my master bedroom, but I was in a hurry the first time I was in there (yes, I went twice in one day), and didn’t have time.

They even had a little section for Restoration Hardware Kids merchandise.

Pretty rugs, pretty pricey.

Some beautiful vanities at pretty reasonable prices.

But many of the vanities were missing their tops, so that would be an added expense.

Love this one.  Too bad I’m not in the market.

Loads of mirrors – I love this one.  What a cool statement piece, if you have a place for it, right?  And yes, it sold (for about $500).

What is the Condition of the Merchandise?
Aside from a couple of scratches and dings here and there, and the fact that many of the vanities didn’t have tops, I’d say the quality was there.  Much of it looked brand new.  So, two thumbs up there.

Overall, I’d say this outlet offers some great deals, depending upon what you’re looking for, specifically.  Some prices are better than others, but overall, a great place to shop for some nice furniture at discounted prices.

You can bet that I will be going back on a regular basis, and will be sure to provide you with frequent updates. 🙂

Thank you for this awesome post! I am wanting to come to the outlet, but specifically looking for two chairs for my living room. Did you notice they had very many chairs? Were they reasonably priced?

Guess what? I’m in town and this exact location is where I’m going tonight after work. This post really helped — even though I know you in blogland, this came up in my Google search! This writeup really helped me set my expectations. I’m hoping I can find a deerhead for my sunroom update. Great post, thank you!

I hope you find some great things! I’m also hoping the reason my post popped up in Google search is because I just switched to WordPress and some SEO magic is happening! 🙂

Thanks for your review and all the photos. I wondered what RHoutlet would be like. Do the arrange shipping? Or can you arrange shipping there?

Beware! Like all outlets, you really need to inspect thoroughly and take out of the store yourself. We recently purchased 5 pieces, having two delivered. The coffee table came to us damaged beyond what was confirmed at purchase. When I called them, they had the sales person call me back and stated she had no power to change anything and insinuated that I really shouldn’t complain since it was a clearance item anyway. I asked if they could at least send me a touch up kit. She went on to tell me to use markers and she polish and water down paint. That was irritating enough, but then when I wiped down our dining room table I realized that shoe polish is exactly what they used to cover splashed watermarks on the table.
We still got some good pieces of furniture at great prices, But just remember that the devil is always in the details.
