House Stalker Series: Character Home Tour Part II

I’m thrilled with the response that I got on part one of this gorgeous home tour, and I’m certain that part two won’t disappoint.  I love how this addition has brought modern functionality without losing its charm and character.

Let me refresh your memory by taking another look at the exterior of the home, post-remodel:

So, let’s take a peek upstairs, shall we?  Let’s start with one of their daughter’s rooms, which used to be their master bedroom.

Adorable, yes?  Their other girl’s room is equally charming, and the soft lavender color on the wall is perfect.  How cute is that quilt?

There is a Jack and Jill bath that connects the two rooms that is also slated for a remodel at some point in the future:

I didn’t get a photo of her son’s room (my bad), but I did get a shot of this awesome hang out space that is connected to his room.  I don’t think my kids would ever leave if they had this area connected to their rooms.

I know you’re itching to see the addition, so here we go.  One of the rooms that was added was a laundry room.  Brace yourself, it’s swoon-worthy.  Are you sitting down?

Looooove it!  The counter top is marble (Orphan Green) that she got on clearance for the same price as laminate.  

A peek at the gorgeous tile being laid in a herringbone pattern – so pretty.

It all came together beautifully, don’t you think?  And again, with that light!

The best part is that it’s now on the second floor, with all of the bedrooms, and right next door to their new master bedroom and bathroom.

But first, they had to create a hallway to take them there.  They carved out some space from their old master bedroom (currently their daughter’s bedroom), and added a hallway.  Here it is in progress:

And finished (not my best photo, but you get the idea).  The laundry room is at the end of the hallway, on the right, and the door straight ahead leads to the master bedroom.

As you enter the master bedroom addition, it’s light, bright, airy and a true retreat.  The door at the corner of the room ended up being an unexpected shoe closet, due to some accommodations they had to make for the roof line, which also extended their master bathroom. (Their master closet is on the opposite side of the room).  The bedroom is painted in Benjamin Moore’s Edgecomb Gray.

The other doorway leads to the master bathroom, which is truly the highlight of this level, in my opinion.

Hello, gorgeous.  How you doin’?

As you walk in, you’re greeted with a wall of windows and a feast for the eyes with beautiful finishes and a restful palette.  The walls in the master bathroom are painted in Benjamin Moore’s Balboa Mist.

To the left is a separate bathroom area.  Notice the detail in the doors and doorknobs.

I’m smitten with these doorknobs I tell you.  They just don’t make them like that anymore.

Beyond the bathroom area is the shower of my dreams.

In case you’re wondering, there is a bench.  Of course, there’s a bench.  Made with the stunning Calcutta marble used throughout this space.

And since Kelly is a fellow control freak, helper, she laid out the tile pattern herself for the contractors.

Another shot of the beautiful finishes they chose.  I love the mix of both browns and grays in this marble.  So striking, adding some warmth against the other white finishes in the space.

From the shower side of the room, you can see the built-ins and the vanity.

Originally, the bathroom was only supposed to extend to where the far right sconce is.  The tall cabinet on the right was an add-on resulting from the changes they made to ensure that the roof line was right.  But what a nice addition!

The mirrors were steals at $40 each from the Ballard Designs Outlet.  They’re perfect in here.

Kelly’s next door neighbor’s house is also very stalk-worthy.  I have always loved their window boxes.  When I trained for my first marathon, our group long runs were down here and we would always run by their house, and the window boxes were filled with summer flowers.  You can see they had them decked out for the holidays.
