The Office: A Gallery Wall

Happy Monday!

The weather finally started cooperating around here, and I’m actually getting things done, both inside and outside of the house.  I’m also getting up the nerve to sand and re-stain our front doors – I bought the supplies and everything (gulp).

My husband’s office is coming together nicely, and I have a new rug that’s supposed to be delivered tomorrow, so I’m crossing my fingers that it’s as pretty in person as it is online.  In the meantime, I knocked out a gallery wall in there.

Yes, those are my awesome-sauce Craigslist chairs.  Still not recovered (yet), I’m waiting on the rug before I make a final decision.

I’m sitting here wondering if I took any “before” photos.  I don’t think I did – it was just one barren wall.

This is about as “before” as I have.  Midway through the wallpaper removal madness.  So glad that part is over.

It’s looking much more put together now.

It’s an eclectic mix, to say the least.  I have a few pieces that we purchased at art auctions, years ago, and added some family photos to mix things up.  The quatrefoil mirror was a steal – $11 on clearance at TJ Maxx!

To add some color and continuity, I framed up a piece of the remnant fabric I picked up a couple months ago (pay no mind to the tag and standard store photo in the frame below it – I’m still looking for a picture I want to use in there).  I like the orange and gray color combo, and it will be a nice complement to the other fabrics I’m planning on using in here.

Some of my fabric inspiration…

I had a general idea of how I wanted to put this wall together (after laying it out on the floor), but I ended up tweaking it as I went along.  This is how it was originally, but I wasn’t digging how the far left side looked.  Kind of top heavy (not a phenomenon I’m familiar with in my everyday life). 😉

So, I flipped those two pieces to even things out.  Better, yes?  More balanced.

So, there you have it!  I just can’t get enough of gallery walls, and have them sprinkled throughout my house now (they’re in the bathroom and basement, if need a refresher).  I just think they’re interesting and really draw you in.  Besides, this wall would have looked sparse and boring with just one or two pictures, don’t you think?  A cool symmetrical gallery wall of all the same frames would have been neat too, but I wanted to try and use what I had on hand, so this fits the bill.

Hopefully, I’ll have a new rug to share with you soon!  When it’s all said and done, this room may be one of the most “put together” rooms in the house!

You are the queen of gallery walls! This one looks great, and I still am loving your bathroom with the floor to ceiling pictures! (and the wall color in there, of course!) I like the direction you're taking your husband's office – pulled together and a bit masculine – it's looking fabulous Jenny!

Feeling inspired today by your gallery wall, think I might need to pull some frames & see what I can do with the blank wall in front of me.

I also LOVE the cream fabric with the grey/taupe pattern, any chance you'll share the fabric name/source?
