Hello friends!
I hope you had a great weekend and are ready to sit back and enjoy some great house candy this week. Homearama lived up to and exceeded expectations, and my friend and I concur, that this was probably the best Homearama ever. You’ll want to stick around to see the full tour because you simply won’t believe some of the rooms in these homes. Off. the. hook. There were elements of every house that we loved – so much so, that when we were asked to vote on a favorite, we couldn’t pick one.
So, let’s get to it, shall we?
House #1: Somerset Hills
Price: $892,000
Square footage: 6,489 square feet
The first home of the tour has tremendous curb appeal and is welcoming from the start.
And you know how I am about front doors. This one didn’t disappoint.
Upon entering this home, the dining room is on the left. One of the trends we noticed was the “bling factor” in some of the homes. You can kind of see it in this photo.
Look at the ceiling – can you see the sparkle?
This home also featured his/her offices. Now what couple wouldn’t like that? Here is the ladies office – I could see working in here, couldn’t you?
Love those chairs, the desk and the French doors leading to the front porch.
And the more masculine office – still light-filled and beautiful.
We made our way around to the kitchen, and were greeted by this lovely stone feature for the stove.
And then there was this lovely built-in. Can you guess what it is?
If you guessed refrigerator, you would be incorrect. It’s the pantry! Oh my gosh, how I love this! Brilliant!
And a spacious one at that!
Here is a shot of the kitchen – sorry it’s not so good – it was crowded in there, and we were trying to move along and not hold things up, so I didn’t get the shot I would have liked. Or maybe that pantry just got me totally distracted…
This gorgeous room was off the kitchen – kind of a sun porch type of set up. I could spend lots of time here – so bright and welcoming, and the wood ceiling is perfection.
The rug was a painted canvas – we saw quite a bit of these in the homes this year.
The kitchen was also open to this lovely family room.
Gorgeous fireplace and mantel too. I’m really loving the light stone/dark wood mantel combo here.
A blinged out half bathroom – can you see the crystals on the walls? It’s like it was bedazzled or something. Really cool, but after removing so much wallpaper in my home, I couldn’t help but shudder at the idea of what would be involved to change it out if it wasn’t to your taste.
And a mud room that didn’t disappoint. Not only do you get great storage with the hooks and cubbies, but a great closet as well!
All of this, and a separate laundry room – heaven!
With its own closet, and what’s that door in the corner?
That would be the master closet. Connected to the laundry room. Awesome.
Again, you can see the wall treatment. I’m not sure how it was done – if it’s wallpaper, or a faux technique, or a combination of both.
Not all of the homes carried the tour outside to the backyard, but we got a quick peek from the master bedroom.
More luxurious chairs for lounging.
Plenty of room for both husband and wife to get ready and stay out of one another’s way.
Isn’t it awesome?
A pretty bathroom to start the tour – the tile pattern caught my eye here.
One of the trends we noticed in many of the homes was locating several bedrooms in the basement.
An adorable boy’s room. This one was so clever. You can see a peek of the window treatment too – a metal sculpture of seagulls. And I love the fish collage above the bed.
Adorable mirrors.
And a cute desk and chair setup – complete with lifeguard rescue equipment.
The water theme carried through to the Jack & Jill bathroom.
And then we’re greeted with this adorable nursery. Notice the curtain rod and panels are painted on the walls. Too cute.
Such a sweet little girl’s room.
I even took one of the chairs for a test drive. They have my seal of approval.
And what Homearama basement would be complete without a bar and kitchen area?
In case you didn’t feel like watching a movie, you could chill out over here in this cozy seating area.
Or you could play pool…
Or have an informal jam session – the choice is yours!
So, what do you think of House #1? Do you have a favorite room? Anything you don’t like? Stay tuned – five more houses to come!
Don’t miss the rest of the tour!

July 29, 2013 at 4:45 pmOverall, this house seemed far too large for my taste. However, there were aspects of several rooms that appealed to me. That being said, my favorite room was the sun porch. If this were my house would spend as much time in that space as possible!

July 29, 2013 at 6:54 pmOkay, I must have that sun room! Beautiful! I noticed they used a lot of darker colors on the walls. I am looking forward to what the next homes look like! I live for house tours!

July 29, 2013 at 8:42 pmI would have to say the Mudroom, Laundry room and then maybe the sunroom. I prefer a more traditional feel. Not into the painted blingy walls or ceilings at all. Can't wait to see what's next!
