What is Your Home’s History?

Are you one of those people who would like to revisit an old house to see what the new owners have “done” to it?  Or, would you like to see your current house as it looked over the years with previous owners?  I admit it, I have driven by our past two homes in the hopes of getting a peek inside to see what they look like now.  I’m nosey like that.
So, you can imagine my glee when I Googled our current (new) house and discovered pictures that were never before seen when it was listed on the MLS.  It’s like I found a buried treasure
So, granted, some of these pictures were in the original listing photos, but it’s still fun to see how I’ve made the house so much prettier compare.  And, what’s fun about my house, is that for some crazy reason, they included photos from the previous owners, as well as photos from when it was part of Homearama (a local home builder’s showcase tour).  I’m not saying that in a braggy way (that’s so not how I am – I’m just not the mom with the “My kid is an Honor Student” sticker on her minivan), but just so you know why I’m showing multiple photos of the same room with different furniture in it.

Family Room #1 – Previous Owners

Since Picasa and Blogger are not playing nice with each other, I’m going to keep this post to just a couple of rooms.
On to the master bedroom…

And as it is now…

What’s really cool about this whole thing, is back in 2004, when they had the Homearama event, I toured my current house!  I remember bits and pieces of it (like how I loved the basement), but how weird is it that we ended up buying this house six years later?  If you had told me back in 2004 that I would one day live here, I would have pinched myself to believe it. 🙂

Off to battle Picasa and Blogger…
Have a great weekend!
Jenny

I would LOVE to know how the previous owners in my house had this one decorated, it was empty for several months before we had bought it. Love what you have done to it, much better than the previous…:)

So fun to see old pics! I love what you've done with your bedroom – it's so much more updated, serene and sophisticated. The curtains and bamboo shades – I adore that combo. One of our old houses was on the market last year and of course I went to the open house – it was interesting to see changes they made. Not in a good way! 🙂

You know something? Maybe I'm weird, but I do NOT want to see how the owners have redecorated our 2 previous houses. I worked SO hard on both of them…we had to move, though (long story), but I worked SO hard on them and I just want to remember them as we had them…
