Happy Thursday!
Hope you’re having a great week! It was my daughter’s birthday yesterday, and a beautiful day to celebrate. We’re having her actual party at the end of the month, and to say that she’s excited would be an understatement. We’re doing a costume party this year, and I have to tell you, I’m pretty stoked about it as well. I love a good theme party when it comes to kids – makes planning a bit easier for me.
I love hearing from readers, and seeing the projects that they tackle, especially if they’re able to utilize information or inspiration from my blog. Enter Robin, and her revamped kitchen.

Your detailed instructions and images really made it feel like I wasn’t alone in this huge project.My kitchen update project began with a slab leak behind our stove back in February…
I had plans already to paint my kitchen cabinets myself during the summer utilizing an HVLP sprayer, but the subsequent repairs due to the leak required the emptying of all our cabinets, so I decided to begin the painting earlier than planned.”
So, here is where her kitchen began:
She even set up her own little spray booth:
“With a heavy schedule of the boys in school, baseball tournaments, scout events day camp & camp outs, not to mention my starting a new part time work photographing newborns in the hospital, things got off to a REALLY slow start.
We ate out a lot. The place was a mess. We went for a long time without a functioning kitchen. My sweet neighbors loaned me their compressor and extra long hose, which saved me a lot of money.
But, at last, it is finished! All for less than $300, I think.”

Kathleen sent me an email after I posted my fab craigslist chairs.
She found an even better deal on a similar pair – $5! Yes, I said pair. Say what?

November 8, 2013 at 4:15 amHi Jenny! Thanks for sharing my kitchen! And thanks for the kind words to your readers above. (sorry I'm so late to the party). I'm still loving my paint job, and haven't quite decided to add the hardware pulls and knobs… I'm thinking of only needing/wanting pulls on the drawers, yet not on the doors… would that look weird? Mostly I'm really scairt of messing up my paint job by making a mistake on the installation of hardware. 🙂 and since we're so accustomed to opening without hardware, it's tough to imagine life with them.
Next project will be a complete bathroom reno for my boys. I'm dreaming of a self-cleaning bathroom: tile the whole thing floor to ceiling with a sprinkler above and a drain in the middle of the floor. LOL
