Brassy-Cheap to Classy-Chic

I had a fantastic weekend with my hubby to celebrate my birthday – lots of shopping, food and relaxation.  Amazing how that rejuvenates your soul and recharges your batteries!  Lots of fun boutiques and shops to choose from and I managed to do some damage in the city of Chi-town.

I came upon this book in a store called The Paper Source, and I just had to buy it.  Any book that has me laughing out loud while I’m in a store by myself, is a must-buy.

Oh. My. Goodness.  This book, “F in Exams” by Richard Benson is a compilation of some of the worst (yet most hilarious) wrong answers given on tests.  A few samples:

For anyone who ever hated word problems:

Or Algebra…

Don’t forget History…

You have to give these kids credit for creativity.

I did get a mini-project done as well.  My son’s room has been in dire need of a new lamp, but I haven’t been able to find one that I really like that was reasonably priced.  But, I scored this beauty at Goodwill yesterday.

Nice bones, right?

With a little ORB paint and a new shade (on clearance at Target), we have a winner!

I really love it, and it’s a nice addition to his room.  It still never ceases to amaze me what a little spray paint can do.

It’s just a matter of looking at things with a different eye, right?

That was a great Goodwill store score! I look all the time, but apparently I live in an area where everyone else has the same idea to buy and spraypaint the lamps because there is never anything good! I love the color you chose and the shade – it looks fabulous, Jenny.
