Friday 5+1 {5 Things I Love + 1 Thing I Don’t}

Hello!

Happy Friday!  As I mentioned earlier, lots of milestones this week – 20th anniversary was on Wednesday, and we’re celebrating this weekend, and today is my oldest son’s 16th birthday.  Crazy.

Let’s get started!

Big Metal Letters
I spotted these beauties at Hobby Lobby this week, and should have snapped them up at 50% off a piece (making them $15 each).  I might have to make a trip back up there to get some – I have holiday ideas on the brain, but they would be great anywhere, don’t you think?

Seeing projects come together
I’ve shared some of the design work that I’m doing, and lots of things are falling into place.  My parents’ bathroom tile back splash is almost done, and is looking great.  I love it when a plan comes together.

The kitchen job that I’ve been working on is done.  I’ll share more next week, but here is a sneak peek – including some gorgeous cabinet hardware courtesy of D. Lawless Hardware.

Zipwalls
My paint guy told me about these, and I. must. have. one.  Zipwalls.  How brilliant is this?  An easy to construct wall barrier to keep dust out during a remodel, or perhaps to set up a quick spray booth?  Yes, please!  Zipwall people, if you want me to try one out and give it a review, I’d be happy to oblige.  Just sayin’…

I plan on adding this little nugget of brilliance to my tool arsenal.

The One Room Challenge
Have you seen the reveals for the One Room Challenge at Calling it Home?  Oh my goodness – so much amazing-ness out there, it’s not even funny.  Both from the bloggers/designers that were tapped to do the challenge, and those that took it on as a personal challenge and knocked it out of the park, linking up their finished projects here.  I’m seriously thinking this is the fire I need to light underneath me to get some long overdue projects done around here.

One of the most dramatic makeovers I saw was this one at The Design Daredevil.  Holy crap.  Are you even kidding me?

To fully appreciate this transformation, you need to see the before.  I know, right?  It’s like falling asleep in suburbia, and waking up in a Parisian apartment.

Some of my favorite blogging friends also participated, and had some pretty spectacular results as well.

Look at Kris’ bathroom transformation over at Driven by Decor.  I love this bathroom – not only did she use my color crush Chelsea Gray, but that stencil with it – turned out fabulous.  Too many beautiful elements to count.

And then there’s Pam’s client master bedroom reveal on her blog, Simple Details.  Oh my – this one really caught my eye!  Again, so many beautiful pieces that she sourced from so many different places, creating a beautifully collected look.

Milestone Anniversaries
Ok, let’s talk wedding anniversaries.  20 years – that’s a long time, and I really love being able to celebrate it and pause to think about all that we’ve done over two decades.  It truly doesn’t seem like that long ago that we tied the knot, and it’s always fun to pull out the wedding album.  Oh how wedding photography has changed – this is where I can really tell it’s been 20 years since we got married!

Three houses and three kids later, here we are.  I wouldn’t have it any other way, and thank God every day for bringing this man into my life.

The One Thing I Don’t Like – Falling Back
As for the one thing I don’t like – how about changing our clocks back?  Why is it that I feel like curling into a ball and watching movies at 5:00 in the evening?  Maybe because it’s dark outside.  Why make the colder months even more difficult?  The one upside is that I don’t have little ones anymore.  That always made things extra brutal, didn’t it?

Have a beautiful weekend!

Oh, Jenny, you're full of goodness today! Happy Anniversary! We celebrated our 20th this year too, and we have that same circle mat in our album. 😉 Love those metal letters, my sister made a marquee light out of one for me. So fun! And that bedroom… a.maz.ing! So chic and high style! And of course Pam and Kris's makeovers were two of my favorites, too! Have a great weekend!

Some of the ORC were amazing! Happy Anniversary. We celebrated our 26th back in May. And agree, the falling back is awful. We flew to Texas for the weekend, gained an hour, gained another hour Sunday morning and flew home to lose an hour. What time is it???

Happy Anniversary, Jenny! We're almost to twenty, and have a 16 year old, too! 🙁 (ha! the sad face is for the little growing up to fast, not the almost 20 years!) Was that bedroom not the most jaw dropping, such talent!!! Loved, my friend Kris' bathroom, and thank you so much for the sweet shout out and kind words!! Enjoy your celebration!

Aww, thanks so much for the sweet shout out! I am loving going through all of the ORC "before" and "afters" – loved Pam's room and so many others!! And happy, happy Anniversary – I love the recent picture of you and your husband – what a great one. And finally, it's so funny you brought up those Zipwalls – I just saw those this week at our local hardware store and was wondering if it would be a weird thing to put on my Christmas wish list 🙂

We just celebrated our 18th year anniversary, and I realized that a few years ago our wedding pictures started to look weird, as in… old. Out of style. But I don't mind. :). Great post, as always!
