Dining Room Evolution in Progress

Hey everyone!

Thought I’d give you a peek at what I’ve been working on with some of my holiday vacation time.  I don’t get many days that aren’t consumed with work/kid activities/etc.., so having free time like this is a real luxury!

I was debating between two projects:  1) painting the coffered ceiling:

(Sorry for the wonky angle in this photo – I had to take this picture while laying on the floor.  Didn’t mean to make you dizzy.)

or 2) stripping the dining room wallpaper:

I’ll take Door #2, Bob.  Since I’m not sure how I’ll jury rig the ladders to paint the ceiling,  figured the dining room was my best bet.  I wasn’t looking forward to it, (especially after stripping the wallpaper in the powder room redo) but it had to be done.

Thankfully, it went much better than I anticipated!  I was able to get the wallpaper down in less than a day.

I had been thinking about painting it in this dreamy color – Aegean Teal.   I’ve had swatches of this paint color on my walls for months.

I love this color.  It’s rich and yummy, very similar to the color in my kitchen.

BUT, I don’t want it to be too heavy and dark (not that it would be, necessarily), but after going through some of my dining room inspiration photos, I’m starting to lean towards this sort of look…

I love everything about this room!  The colors, the banded draperies, the chandelier, the light and bright feel of the room – everything.  Plus, I love that this room has many of the same features of our dining room.  The same layout, even the same windows.

See what I mean?  Ok, so I don’t have the hardwood floors, but I can deal with that, especially if I get a cool rug.  Do you see the vision?

Stay tuned – more to come my friends.

Looks great!!! Stripping wallpaper feels like losing 10lbs, so so good!

Can't wait to see what you choose… love the airy, crisp white. Especially because you can choose incredible pop accessories and switch them up frequently!

I love your inspiration picture. With all the blue on the walls in your house, having the white dining room with blue accents would really provide balance. Looking forward to seeing the "after" pictures!

I look forward to what you do in here. Your wallpaper came down easy. I have to take down a border in the powder room. I took down wallpaper in there years ago and it came off in teeny tiny pieces and took me a week of doing it at night after working.

    Jenny,

I see you hooked up at the "Before & After" party — isn't that a genius link party concept? Wish I had thought of it!

I'm hoping that you could also hook up with our "Imagine the Impossibilities" challenge this month as well. Here's a link with the scoop …

It all culminates in a multi-blog Jan 31 link party … and your dining room would be perfect to showcase!
